Archive for April 2013

I'm listening to: Devendra Banhart's new album. It's awesome if-my-life-had-a-score music.
I'm admiring: photography/lifestyle blogs, Marjane Satrapi's work (I'm reading "Embroideries" now, since I devoured "Persepolis"), and the gloriously lush green tree outside of my classroom window.
I'm craving: a big-city vacation. I follow so many New Yorkers' blogs, and I am consistently reminded how much I want to return.
I'm praying for: Josh to get the professor job for which he recently interviewed! Also, for myself to get over this sickness so that I can get back to my running schedule.
I need: a Friday night - thank goodness it's here!
I'm buying: nothing, because the most recent Real Simple magazine had a finance article that reminded me that I need to get better at budgeting.

Any fun plans for the weekend? We're going to Jackson Streets Alive tomorrow, and hopefully, I'll be running a 5k if my mucus-filled lungs can bear it.

Happiest of happy Fridays!

Juke Joint Festival

Sunday, April 14, 2013

This Saturday, Josh and I went to the Juke Joint Festival in Clarksdale, Mississippi. We absolutely loved it - the Delta culture, the blues, the crawfish (well, sort of - it was pretty gross breaking them open).

We walked into a museum for an old blues radio station.

And then, of course, there was a petting zoo from which Josh had a difficult time pulling me away.

Aaaand, we crossed eating crawfish off of the bucket list.

Naturally, Josh found a guitar store. :) Love how talented he is.

I will always remember Delta skies. They yield the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets I've ever seen.

What I've been Listening To:

Wednesday, April 10, 2013

These are the songs that have been getting me through the rainy Winter to Spring transition. Some make me embrace the rain and others help me look toward the sunny days ahead. If you listen to no other songs on this list, you must check out "Doorways" (which makes me feel like I could fly) and "Manhattan" (which makes me envision New York on a rainy, spring day and a tall glass of wine).

Happy Wednesday!

[PS - This image is from our honeymoon in Venice in St. Mark's Square.]
